Leader of the Government and Public Sector Practice
Ernst & Young

As the Americas Government & Public Sector Leader for Ernst & Young, Val is responsible for building the Americas team and practice. Her extraordinary efforts and ability to construct programs and mobilize teams has helped attract the top talent in the marketplace to Ernst & Young, including 10 partners with deep government experience. She has leveraged her 30 years working with government to establish new relationships with designated agencies and focus the team’s efforts on these agencies. To build on these successes, she led the acquisition of a well-known government contractor in the Department of Defense space.

Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Val was President and CEO of Capgemini Government Solutions LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Capgemini – one of the world’s largest providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services. The subsidiary was launched to support the transformation needs of the US government through collaboration, the application of leading practices and Val’s three decades of global public sector experience.

While serving as an Executive Vice President at Identix, a biometric technology company, she helped to establish it as a national technology and fingerprint biometrics solutions provider in the post-September 11 environment. On November 14, 2001, Val testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Technology, Terrorism and Government Information and worked hand-in-hand with more than 25 Senate and House members and their staffs to ensure fingerprint biometrics was included in the national agenda to fight terrorism.

Her leadership and business skills were honed during her 18 years at EDS, a $25 billion IT services company. Eventually she rose to President of the EDS Government Services Unit, a department with over $400 million in revenue and 3,000 people. In this role, she was responsible for marketing, sales and delivery to all civilian federal agencies. Her previous roles at EDS included Corporate Director of Sales Leadership and Director of Sales Strategy for the pursuit of “mega” sales opportunities globally, working closely with the Vice Chairman and senior executive leadership to set the vision and strategy for large, complex, value-based opportunities estimated at values greater than $1 billion.

In her spare time, Val mentors start-up companies and rising women executives, is on the TechAmerica Public Sector Board, has served on the Make-A-Wish Board and is an active member in her church.

Val and her husband, Mike, reside in Reston, Va. and Smith Mountain Lake, Va. She has two grown children: son Stephen and daughter Sydney.
