Opportunities in Domestic IT Sourcing: Think Globally, Act Locally

February 17, 2010 ~ New York City

Low Cost Domestic Sourcing -- New York

“Opportunities in Domestic IT Sourcing: Think Globally, Act Locally “  was a high – level meeting of senior IT managers from the New York area  that was cosponsored by Technology Managers Forum (www.techforum.com) , a professional association for IT managers, and TechAmerica.

Held February 17th in New York City ,  the meeting  attracted top-level  IT sourcing professionals from  the major financial services companies, as well as healthcare, architectural ,and research firms.  Most of those attending had  established offshore outsourcing relationships. Attendees observed that interest in local IT sourcing was growing due to the fact that outsourcing is not just about labor arbitrage anymore.

The current trend in IT is to move to a services-oriented operation. In particular, IT services that have become commodities , such as call centers and help desks, are excellent candidates for domestic sourcing.

Peter del Coro, CCO of Maine & Co., referenced the numerous successful IT sourcing projects that currently operate in Maine.  Other panelists were:

  • Jeff Lande of TechAmerica;
  • Jim LeMon of Lord Abbett & Co;
  • Jon Carrow of Pfizer; and
  • Priscilla Tate of Technology Managers Forum moderated.
