Health IT Symposium ~ May 18, 2011
Capitol Visitor Center – S217

Investing in innovative health information technologies will transform health care quality, reduce medical errors, and make health care more accessible to our citizens thereby saving lives, reducing health care costs, and also creating jobs. Yet, defining “health IT” can be a challenge, and hence so can understanding the value and promise of health IT.

The TechAmerica Foundation Health IT Symposium focused on educating the attendees on the use of information technology to reduce costs and increase efficiency in health care delivery directly in the public sector, such as through Veterans Affairs, and indirectly through Medicare reimbursements, as well as its direct value in the private sector. Because of the many benefits from adoption of health information technologies TechAmerica Foundation supports the wide scale adoption of technology solutions in the US healthcare system to meet these goals.

Industry, Congressional staff, non-profit professionals, and other government agency executives explored this exciting part of the IT world to better understand the value of a healthcare system that truly is infused with information technology. They heard from a variety of thought leaders in the public and private sectors of what is next in heath IT and how it will benefit all those who interact with the healthcare system.
